Sint Maarten's casinos are permitted to operate slot machines and table games and offer poker. A hotel needs at least 200 rooms to qualify for a casino license. "Standalone" casinos are also permitted to operate. Gaming establishments cannot be located within 50 meters of "sensitive" facilities, like schools and churches.

Sint Maarten law restricts locals to four casino visits per month, but the restriction is rarely enforced. Policy updates and audits have referenced limits of four to six visits per month in an effort to curb problem gambling, but the lack of interlinked monitoring systems makes resident-play caps difficult to enforce in practice.
